I have finally found the time to get to make first post post in the new year. In fact, this is the first post in such a long time that volumes of books will be needed to tell what has been happening in my life and in my world since the last post. I feel so guilty for not being so consistent in this endeavor. I don’t get it. Its a paradox to me: I love the whole idea of blogging, i encourage people to blog, I teach media students how to blog and I follow quite a few blogs; but getting to do it myself has been such a huge challenge for me of late. I will have to figure this one out this year i guess.
To all the readers, new and old, I say Happy New Year to you and I sincerely wish you God’s blessings as you live out your year. I am excited about this year and I am looking forward to the the great things that are going to happen this year. I speak that in faith (can I get an Amen?).
There’s just something about a new year, I don’t know what it is, but that vibe is great. It’s almost as if we are given a new lease of life to live it out passionately and wholly. Sadly, it has taken me 29 days to wish you a happy new year. Please, charge that to my head and not not my heart.
In thought I should start of the year by sharing something that my sister Mwewa shared with me about seven years ago. It must have been one of those emails that had made the rounds as a forward back in the day but its contents are still relevant today. My sharing this is really meant to just give you some new year inspiration, not that you haven’t received a lot of it already, but to add to it, after all, you can never have enough of that. The message in this piece is about what we say, dream or think and the power that lies with that. I don’t want to sound metaphysical or mystical, but the truth is that our words especially have this thing about them that makes them come to being. Therefore, we ought to be positive in thought, in word and in deed.
So here goes:
Your words, your dreams, and your thoughts have the power to create conditions in your life.
What you speak about, you can bring about.
If you keep saying you’re always broke, guess what? You’ll always be broke.
If you keep saying you can’t trust a man or trust a woman, you will always find someone in your life to hurt and betray you.
If you keep saying you can’t find someone to love you or believe in you, our very thoughts will attract more experiences to confirm your beliefs.
Turn your thoughts and conversations around to be more positive and power packed with faith, hope, love and action.
Don’t be afraid to believe that you can have what you want and deserve.
Watch your “Thoughts,” they become words;
Watch your “Words,” they become actions;
Watch your “Actions,” they become habits;
Watch your “Habits,” they become character;
Watch your “Character”, for it becomes your “Destiny”
So, To prevent any obstacles…
GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY,
And enjoy every minute you live!
So this year, learn to speak a blessing over your own life and like David in the Bible, encourage yourself. Above all, put God first in all you do and let His word rule over your life because there is power and life in His word.
Once again, Happy New Year and remember, Be Awesome!
